When learning how to play blackjack the first thing you should understand is the objective. Blackjack is played against a dealer and the objective is to obtain a hand which is worth a higher value than the dealer’s hand without breaking 21. Blackjack hand values are determined by adding together the value of the cards in the hand—Aces are worth 1 point or 11 points, depending on the other cards in the hand; numbered cards are worth their face value; face cards are worth 10 points.

According to blackjack rules, which are the same whether you are playing blackjack online or in a live casino, players must place bets to start the game. Once your bet is placed you will receive 2 cards from the dealer and the dealer will receive 2 cards. You will see both of your cards but only 1 of the dealer’s cards and based on this information you must decide to stay with your 2-card hand or ask the dealer to hit you with more cards to increase the value of your hand. At the end of the game if you beat the dealer you are paid and if the dealer wins you lose your bet to the house. Now you know how to play blackjack.
