Basic Blackjack Rules

If you spend any amount of time on the Internet then you have surely seen articles and ads for online blackjack. If you have been intrigued and would like to start playing online blackjack but don’t know how it is easy to understand basic blackjack rules.

The first thing to understand when you are learning about blackjack rules is the objective of the game of blackjack. The game of blackjack is played against the blackjack dealer. The objective is to obtain a better hand than the dealer, which means a hand worth a higher point value. However, if your hand exceeds a point value of 21 you lose so you have to be careful. To start the game the blackjack dealer deals each player two cards, placed face up on the table. The dealer takes two cards for himself but places one face up and one face down. Based on the dealer’s up card the other players must decide whether or not they want to keep their hand as is or ask the dealer to add more cards to their hand to up the value. Once all of the players have settled on their hand the blackjack dealer flips over his second card and the winners and losers are determined.

Blackjack rules state that numbered cards are valued at their numeric value (i.e. a 3-card is worth 3 points). Jacks, Queens and Kings are all worth 10 points. An Ace is worth 1 point or 11 points, whichever is better for you.

Now that you understand these basic blackjack rules put your newfound knowledge to the test and give online blackjack a try.
