Before You Learn to Play Blackjack

Learning a new game is always an exciting pastime. However, before you learn to play blackjack, make sure you know what is expected of you in a live casino. You need to find the best blackjack table to start out at, along with a blackjack game that suits your budget.

Choosing a blackjack table is important before you learn to play blackjack in a live environment. The deciding factor should be the betting limits at the table. The minimum and maximum betting amounts should be clearly visible at the blackjack table. If you're new to the game, it is safer to start out at tables offering lower limits, for example $3-$5.

You also need to check to find out which type of blackjack game you're playing when you learn to play blackjack. Shoe games are best for new players because all cards are dealt face up and the dealer is able to offer advice to those unsure of the best cards to play. Six to eight decks of cards are used in shoe games. This means that the casino has a higher advantage but it is far easier learning to play this way than if you're using fewer decks of cards.

When you're ready to learn to play blackjack, purchase your chips from the dealer. Make sure you can afford the recommended buy-in which is usually ten to twenty times the amount of the maximum betting limit at the blackjack table. Generally red chips are used to represent $5, green for $25 and black chips for $100.
