Blackjack Tournament Rules Overview

Blackjack tournaments can be very exciting, for those who play blackjack. There can be a lot at stake in a blackjack tournament, as the prizes can be quite valuable. Many casinos award the winner of the tournament with the total of the registration fees. In a large tournament these sums of money can be very high. Usually in a blackjack tournament there are multiple rounds. In each round a group of players will play against each other with only one or two of the players advancing to the next round.

Tournaments usually have 3 rounds, with multiple tables in each round. Each table tends to have 6 players. Often 2 players from each player progress into the second round and one player from each table of the second round progresses into the final 6.

There are the same number of hands in each round. Most tournaments have 15 to 30 hands per round. All the players begin with the same amount of chips and the players with the highest value of chips wins the round.

In a blackjack tournament, the order in which players have to place their bets and are dealt their cards changes with each hand. There is an indicator as to which player is first which moved around the table. This plays an important role in blackjack betting, as a player who is forced to place his or her bet in the beginning of the round is at a disadvantage.
