Different Ways to Play Blackjack

Since it was created in France in 1700, Blackjack has spread to all corners of the globe. As it’s traveled over the years and through countries, Blackjack has adopted different names and forms. Now, Blackjack variations can even be found in online Blackjack and in casinos. Here are some of the unique ways to play Blackjack and their twists on standard Blackjack rules.

One interesting way to play Blackjack is called “Blackjack Switch.” In this version, players are dealt two hands of two cards to play simultaneously. These hands are not rigid; in fact, the player has the option to switch the order of the cards. If the two hands are a J-4 and a 10-7, the player can switch to make a J-10 and a 4-7.

“Double Exposure Blackjack” changes the standard way to play Blackjack by exposing both of the dealer’s cards at the beginning of the game. Instead of the dealer having one face-up and one face-down card, both cards are revealed. In this version, the house evens the deal by paying winners even money and designating ties, or “pushes,” as player losses.

“Elimination Blackjack” is a new way to play Blackjack. Riding on the recent popularity of tournament poker, “Elimination Blackjack” is a tournament-style Blackjack game that steadily eliminates players until there is one winner.
