The game of blackjack is played with cards. Blackjack cards are traditional playing cards. The game of blackjack, however, is played with two to eight decks of playing cards shuffled together.

The objective of the game of blackjack is to obtain a better hand than the blackjack dealer. This means that your hand must be not only of a higher value than the dealer’s hand but also equal to or lower than 21 in order to win. The value of your hand cannot exceed 21. At the beginning of the game the blackjack dealer deals out the blackjack cards. Two blackjack cards are given to each player.

Blackjack cards each have a value and the values of all cards are added together to determine the value of a blackjack hand. Cards that are numbered from 2 to 10 are worth their numeric value in points (i.e. a 3 is worth 3 points). Face cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) are each worth 10 points. Aces are worth either 1 point or 11 points. You can decide which value you want your ace to count as based on the other cards in your hand. After the blackjack dealer gives you your initial 2-card hand you may request for him to hit you with additional cards to increase the value of your hand.
