Explanation of a Blackjack Deck

The game of blackjack can be played on a number of scales. A person can play solitaire blackjack, dealing out cards for the “dealer” and one set for him or herself, a few people can play or an entire table of people can play. For this reason, there is a need for different sized blackjack decks.

A blackjack deck is made up of one to eight regular 52-card decks, depending on the number of players. The decks are all shuffled together. If you are playing with only a few people then a blackjack deck made up of two or three decks of cards should suffice. However, in casinos where there is a huge amount of play at the blackjack table the blackjack deck is often made up of eight regular decks.

In the game of blackjack, each card in a blackjack deck each card has a given value. Cards numbered from 2 to 10 are valued at their number. This means that a 2 is worth 2 points, an 8 is worth 8 points and so on. Jacks, Queens and Kings are each worth 10 points. An Ace is worth either 1 point or 10 points depending on what you need.

When you play blackjack the blackjack dealer is in charge of the cards. He or she is in charge of dealing them as well as shuffling them.
