How does a Blackjack Tournament Work?

If you’re a Blackjack fan, you’ve probably looked at poker tournaments and wondered why the concept couldn’t be applied to Blackjack. You weren’t the only one thinking that – there’s now a Blackjack tournament called Elimination Blackjack that makes your favorite game more exciting and competitive than ever.

Standard Blackjack is played individually, with each player at the table competing solely against the dealer. There are naturally a few different rules to Blackjack tournament play, where players compete against each other. For one thing, Elimination Blackjack places a heavy emphasis on betting, even including a unique Blackjack betting strategy called the “Secret Bet” where players can get ahead by bluffing.

Elimination Blackjack pits 7 players against one another. The game uses six 52-card decks that get shuffled after each hand. Each player plays an individual hand against the dealer. Players are eliminated in three rounds where the player with the least amount of chips must leave the Blackjack tournament. This occurs after 8, 16, and 25 hands of Blackjack are played.

In Blackjack tournament play, a typical Blackjack strategy like Chip Counting is less important than betting. The way to win is to get ahead in chip amounts. To do this, players have to wager large amounts of money in order to pull ahead of other competitors.
