Knowing Blackjack Basic Strategy

Internet Blackjack is a complex card game that involves a fair mix of skill and luck. Although the concept of Blackjack seems simple on the surface, there is much more to the game than simply trying to score 21. Players have many different card options, and knowing which one to choose is called Blackjack basic strategy.

At the start of the Blackjack game, each player is dealt two face-up cards. Blackjack rules give players four different options to take with these cards. To take an additional card, the player can “Hit.” “Standing” means staying as is. “Doubling down” means doubling a bet, taking one hit, and then standing. A “Split” is possible with two cards of the same value, and makes them into two separate hands. Blackjack basic strategy helps you choose your next move logically.

Blackjack basic strategy tells you, based on your two-card hand and the dealer’s face-up card, the best way to mathematically beat the house. Each hand, such as J-6, may have different options depending on the dealer’s face-up card. However, these hands have only one best option:
A-A: Split
10-10: Stand
8-8: Split
A-8: Stand
A-9: Stand
Total of 17-20: Stand
Total of 5-8: Hit

Study the charts! By following Blackjack basic strategy, you can reduce the house’s advantage to 0%.
