Online Black Jack Rules and Wagers

So you know what's required of you as a blackjack player in an online black jack game. But do you know how the dealer must play his hand and what happens to the wagers you make in a game? According to online black jack rules, a dealer must follow a strict game plan of which two are commonly used depending on the internet blackjack casino you play at.

The first online black jack rules that the dealer must follow is to stand on all 17s. This means that the dealer can hit, or draw another card, until he has a total of 17 or higher. Once this threshold is reached, he must stand. A second rule used in an online black jack game requires the dealer to hit with soft 17. This means that if the Ace in his hand counts as eleven, he must draw another card.

When you think that all the dealer can really do is hit or stand according to black jack online rules, you can appreciate how many more options the player has. A dealer cannot surrender or double as a player can, yet the house still retains the advantage under standard blackjack rules.

Understanding what happens to your bet under online black jack rules is simple. If a player wins, his bet is paid out to him in even money. If he makes an insurance bet and the dealer makes a natural hand, the player's bet is paid out at 2:1. A player who makes a natural hand receives a payout at odds of 3:1 unless the dealer also has a natural. In the event of a push or a tie, the player's bet is returned to him.
