Online Blackjack Guide: Understanding Card Values

An online blackjack guide will explain to you all about the different values connected to the cards that the blackjack dealer deals to you. The first thing you will learn is that the suits of the cards have no real relevance to the game. So what are the actual blackjack card values? If you take cards 2 through to 10, the online blackjack guide will show that these cards are counted at face value. In other words, 3 has a value of 3, 4 of 4 and so on.

Now let us look at the other cards in the pack. What blackjack card values are given to face cards such as the Jack, Queen and King? The online blackjack guide shows that all of these are given one value of 10. So, if the dealer deals a King and a 6, the player’s hand value is 16.

The final card in the pack that we haven’t mentioned is the Ace. An online blackjack guide explains that the Ace can either have the value of 10 or 1. If a hand does not contain an Ace, this is known as a hard hand. A hand with an Ace is known as a soft hand (because the hand value can change according to how the Ace is played).
