Online Blackjack Odds Explained

Playing online blackjack is an exciting and challenging pastime, but it won’t be very rewarding if players don’t develop a clear understanding of online blackjack odds. When embarking on a game, players are faced with a number of decisions along the way. Making the right decision and developing the right blackjack skills will be much easier if the online blackjack odds are taken into account.

Let us take an extreme example and say that the player is dealt a hand with a value of 21 during a blackjack game. If the player has no prior knowledge of the game, and decides to do something thoughtless like ask to hit (ie. be dealt another card), the online blackjack odds in this situation state that the player has a 100% chance of going bust. The odds decrease as the value of the hands decrease. So, as another example, there is a 92% chance of the player going bust if hit on a hand value of 20, but only a 62% chance with a hand valued at 16.

Having a clear understanding of online blackjack odds means that players will ALWAYS ask to hit on a hand value of 11 or less, simply because there is a 0% chance of going bust with this hand. As players practice the game, they will soon learn when it is the right time to hit and the right time to stand during a blackjack game.
