Playing a Blackjack Hand in Internet Blackjack

Blackjack is not a complicated game to play. Once you know how to play your blackjack hand, you're ready to test your skills against the dealer and the house in a game of internet blackjack.

The most difficult decisions you'll be faced with in internet blackjack is whether you should draw or stand. When you draw, you are requesting another card from the dealer to bring the total of your blackjack hand closer to 21. When you stand, you are declining another card and hoping that your total is closer to 21 than the dealer's hand. If it is, you win the hand. If not, the dealer collects the bet for the house.

Another important decision relates to doubling down in internet blackjack. This rule allows a player to double his bet and receive one extra card from the dealer. A player can only elect to double down when he has two cards in his blackjack hand.

An example of when a player may choose to double down in internet blackjack is when he has two cards making a total of 11 and the dealer has an up card of 5. An extra card could give the player what he needs to make a strong blackjack hand. He can double up to the amount of his original bet or double to a lesser amount. If the extra card helps the player achieve a winning hand, he is paid out at twice the amount of his original bet.
