Different Backgammon game board characteristics

When choosing a backgammon board there are certain backgammon game board characteristics that a player should look for. If a player is unable to locate a suitable board to fit their tastes, which happens from time to time, the player may consider making one themselves, or commissioning a professional to handcraft a good board.

The player’s preference when it comes to Backgammon game board characteristics will determine how the board is started. Each player is different in what they prefer in a board also. For example, some Backgammon players prefer a very soft board with little bounce of the dice. On the other hand some players prefer a very hard board with a pronounced bounce of the dice. Also, some Backgammon players prefer highly polished boards where the pieces slide easily, and still others like to feel a little resistance as their game pieces move across the board. These are little differences indeed but when making a board specifically for a Backgammon player these small differences will determine the material that the board is fashioned from.

Another one of the Backgammon game board characteristics that may be considered is that of the color pattern. While many mass produced boards are either black or white, many custom boards come in any color the person purchasing the board desires. If a player decides to make their own, the only limit is the maker’s imagination.

These are just a few of the different Backgammon game board characteristics that a Backgammon player may choose from. By building their own board, a Backgammon player can become that much more attached to an already great game.
