How to choose a backgammon board

The classic game of backgammon has attracted all kinds of people from all over the world for different reasons. In spite of the difference in reasons, all of you need to learn and follow certain basic rules and conventions of Backgammon board selection, if you are just a Backgammon novice. As a Backgammon learner, first and foremost you will need access to a gaming board to practice your game. You can either use a conventional Backgammon board, or go for the more popular online board. To set up a traditional backgammon board also requires lot of skill and practice especially if it is the first time for you. In such cases an online board might come to your rescue as it allows new players to start playing game with the checkers on their suitable points. Once you get to know which points your and your opponents checkers should be kept on, you can practice it by setting up a usual Backgammon board.

Initially it is important that you get a board that is suitable for playing game. A delicate Backgammon board, which cannot survive regular hours of practice, will do you no good. A good board should be able to withstand continuous checker movements and falling of dice on it. Dont ever make the mistake of playing on a cardboard playing board while you are still a Backgammon beginner as it will wear out soon and you wont feel like playing on a shoddy board.

A brand new hobby and an attractive board might tempt you to show it of to people by purposely leaving it out in the open. But remember that until you place it in protected area you stand a high risk of damaging your precious board and ultimately your Backgammon career wont go beyond a beginner.
