Making a Backgammon doubling cube
When a player has decided to build their own Backgammon game board they have taken the first step to a whole new world of Backgammon game play. By playing on a board built by the player’s own two hands is a very rewarding experience and truly adds a personal dimension to an already fantastic gaming experience. There are several ways to approach building a Backgammon game board.
One is to build the board and then buy the gaming pieces. If a player does this they will have to purchase checkers, dice, and a Backgammon doubling cube. There is another way, however, and that is to make the checkers, dice, and the Backgammon doubling cube. The fabrication of a doubling cube is not as tricky as that of fabricating dice and this is a viable option.
A Backgammon doubling cube is a relatively simple piece of equipment but making one can prove tricky. It is good to start with a good medium that is resilient and that has a good aesthetic quality. For some this is ceramics, maybe bone, or any other medium that can withstand the abuse of being thrown. It also has to retain the ink, paint, or other etching method that the Backgammon player uses to put the numbers into the cube.
By making their own Backgammon doubling cube a player can add another little personal touch to their personal Backgammon game board. The time spent making a doubling cube will be returned ten fold to the Backgammon player every time they sit down to play.
