Online Backgammon Opponents

You're in the middle of a tense and exciting game of online backgammon. You're waiting for your opponent to make his next move. But nothing happens. How long are you supposed to wait before you leave the game? These questions are asked by backgammon fans worldwide. The following information will help you deal with the “droppers.”

Firstly, it is important to give your backgammon opponent the benefit of the doubt. If he is inactive for a while, there may be a reasonable explanation. Perhaps his computer has crashed or his connection to the internet has suddenly been terminated. The polite course of action is to wait ten minutes for him to return before leaving the online backgammon game. After ten minutes, try sending your opponent an instant message or an email asking if he wishes to continue.

If you are ignored, you can safely assume you're dealing with an online backgammon dropper. The next time you log in to play backgammon online, find out who this person is playing and inform his opponent that he has a match to finish with you. Then try and pin your dropper down so that he is forced to finish your game. Remember that no one likes a dropper. Letting other backgammon players know who they are is a service to the online backgammon community.
