A discussion on online poker hands with regard to No-Limit Poker

Online poker hands in no-limit hold'em poker need to be played differently from the other forms of poker out there. When you are playing a fixed-limit game you generally don’t lose too much on one second-best hand, however there is a larger chance of you losing your whole stack at no-limit. It is my advice that you play the nut-like online poker hands more often when playing no-limit. Another way of looking at it is that pocket pairs rise in value since they are able to hit a set and at the same time connecting cards due to their ability to hit straights. Since there is a nut flush, ace-suited also goes up in value, but the flush potential is well known and your opponents will shut out at the flop when you hit a flush draw.

If these online poker hands go up in value which online poker hands go down? Simply put- AQ, AJ, KQ, KJ and so on. Time and time again these are the hands that get annihilated at no-limit poker. It is a good idea to use these hands if you want to win small pots with a top pair, but you will have no chance if someone hits a set or a straight.

A good piece of advice for you to remember is that you don’t always have to dump these second-best hands preflop. The key is that you have to work out what other people have on the flop. Instead read your fellow players and don’t just simply call bets with the second-best hand, instead raise to see where you are. Take it as a threat to your stack when someone bets at you significantly – so take charge and threaten their stack.
