Defining On Line Poker Hands

There are nine different winning poker hand combinations in on line poker. These hands are ranked in order from highest to lowest as follows: Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind, Two Pair, One Pair, and High Card. Differentiating between these combinations can be confusing, but knowing what they are is essential to learning how to play poker.

Most on line poker hand combinations are self-explanatory, but some require more detail. The highest card combination, a Straight Flush, requires defining both a Straight and a Flush. A Straight is a series of five cards that proceed in value order without gaps (for example, 9-10-J-Q-K). A Flush occurs when a player has five cards of the same suit. These cards do not have to be in any particular order, it is only important that they belong to the same card family. A Straight Flush, then, is a combination of these two features: it is a series of consecutive cards of the same suit (for example, 5-6-7-8-9 of Hearts).

A Full House occurs in on line poker when a player has both Three of a Kind and One Pair in the same hand (for example, K-K-K-4-4).

Now that you know these terms, go for a Straight Flush in your next on line poker game!
