Different Straights in Online Texas Hold’Em Poker

In online Texas Hold’Em poker, there are nine different winning hand combinations that players can use to win the game. One of the difficult, but not uncommon, hands to score in online poker games is a Straight, or 5 cards in consecutive order. It’s possible to get three different kinds of Straights.

The first, and most valuable, type of Straight is the Straight Flush. In online Texas Hold’Em poker, this is the king of winning hand combinations, the greatest poker bonus. It is an incredibly difficult hand to achieve because it combines both the Straight and the Flush, consisting of 5 consecutive cards of the same suit (8-9-10-J-Q of Spades, for example).

A “bottom end” Straight is one that fills in the low numbers in a series of consecutive cards. If there is an 8-9-10 on the board, and you’re holding a 6-7, you are playing toward the low end of the Straight. In online Texas Hold’Em poker, a player who plays to the “top end” of the Straight with a J-Q would win the pot with the higher card. Wager aggressively on “top end” Straights and cautiously on “bottom end” Straights.

The term “broadway” in online Texas Hold’Em poker is an Ace through 10 Straight.
