How to Play Pot Limit Poker

Playing pot limit poker is a great idea for any poker player who loves the thrill of playing no limit poker but wants to ensure that they don’t fly off the hook and bet too much.

As anyone who has played no limit poker will tell you, it isn’t uncommon for the pot to get out of hand as players raise huge amounts of money. Pot limit poker decreases the chances of something like this happening as it limits bets and raises to the current size of the pot. A player may not raise more money than is currently in the pot. For instance, if there is currently $100 in the pot then a player may bet $100 but no more. However, if he bets $100 then the next player may bet up to $200.

Pot limit poker still allows for huge bets as the pot grows and grows. It just keeps the pot from getting entirely out of hand as it can in no limit poker. However, don’t be fooled into thinking that you can’t win a lot of money by playing poker with a pot limit—the poker pot can still be raised to quite a lot of money in this game.

Pot limit poker is only a type of betting and can be used in any poker game. It is quite common in Texas Holdem, Omaha, Five Card Draw and other popular poker games to play with a pot limit.
