Key Omaha Poker Rules

Omaha poker rules are easy to remember and even easier to learn when a player starts an Omaha game. The object of Omaha poker is to produce the highest winning five card hand. In order to do so, a player needs to focus on the five stages of the game. These are known as the pre-flop, the flop, the turn, the river and final showdown.

Omaha poker rules governing the pre-flop area of play stipulate that the dealer must give each player four cards. These cards are known as hole cards and introduce a general betting round. Each player must either call, raise or fold depending on his cards. After this betting round, it's time for the pre-flop where three community cards are dealt.

The third stage of an Omaha poker game is known as the turn and introduces the fourth community card to the poker table. Players must bet again on the strength of their hand before the fifth and final stage begins. Omaha poker rules specify that the river is the last community card to be dealt in an Omaha game.

According to Omaha poker rules, all players must turn over their cards at final showdown. The player with the highest five card poker hand made from two hole cards and three community cards is the winner of the Omaha poker game.
