Sharpen Your Internet Poker Skills

As you are probably aware, playing poker online requires a different skill set from regular poker. The reason for this is that when you play poker online you cannot see the face of your opponent. In offline, face-to-face poker the facial expressions and body language of your opponent can key you into the quality of your opponent’s hand in seconds. Internet poker skills and strategy are very different.

If you want to improve your Internet poker skills the first thing you have to do is understand that there is other information that can be just as helpful as facial expressions. Following the poker betting patterns of your opponents can help you develop your strategy as well. Keep track of how your opponents bet over the course of several games. You will find that many players give away their hands with their betting. For instance, raising always means an excellent hand and calling always means a so-so hand. In this instance you know that any time this player raises you should think about folding.

Internet poker skills also include thinking about your own poker betting patterns and trying to vary them in order to keep your opponents guessing. Sometimes raise on a good hand and other times simply call in order to trick your competition.

If you employ these simple Internet poker skills you will be just as good of a poker player online as off, if not better!
