Texas Holdem Poker, Limit and No-Limit Games

These two game versions of Texas hold em Poker may seem similar, but when you take a closer look they are very different. It is no coincidence that those who dominate no-limit Texas hold em poker are no the same folks who excel at limit (fixed limit) Texas hold em poker.

So which game shoud you play. You need to definitely play both to understand the differences between the two games. But the main reason that most people prefer to play the no-limit texas hold em poker is because you can win a lot more money in a lot less time.

In the game of Limit Texas Hold'em poker, you are limited to betting in small increment in each of rounds of betting and you can only raise three times. In no-limit Texas hold em you may bet as many chips as you have and you number of raises are not limited either.

The strategies of each type of game are different because you have to play a lot more limit games to earn the same amount that you can earn in just a few hands of no limit Texas holdem. Also bluffing is more effective in no limit games because you can use it to discourage players from raising their bets whereas in limit games people usually bet all the way till the river round because their stakes are not that high.

In any case, there are experts and player who profit from both types of games so the best way to no which game is better for you is to play each of them, even if it's just for play money so you can get a better idea of which one is better for you.
