The online poker rake and how it can help you chose your poker game

The online poker rake is a fee that an online poker site will charge for you playing on their server. Usually the online poker rake is 10% of every pit up to a maximum of $3.00. Generally, when you play poker in a live casino you would tip the deader $1-2 per pot, which should be calculated into your rake totaling.

When playing online your aim is not only to beat the poker game and not only your opponents but to overcome the rake as well. Good for you, that there is good news; through careful skillful play this can be achieved.

The next question is how do you beat the online poker rake? If you consider that the casino is going to charge you 10% up to a maximum of $3 that means that if the pot is $30, the casino is going to charge you $3. Additionally the casino is going to charge you $3 if the pot is $100 or $300 or even $3,000. Three dollars out of a pot that is worth $100 is only 3% but $3 out of $30 is 10%. In short if you play for higher stakes you are not giving the casino too much of your winnings since it only goes up in small percentages.

Use this knowledge about the online poker rake when deciding which poker games to play. If the online poker rake is too large in comparison to the amount of money you can win then that might be a game that you will not be able to beat in the long run.
