The Rules of Omaha Hi-Lo Poker

One of the most popular poker games online is Omaha Hi-Lo. Omaha Hi-Lo poker is very similar to the game of Texas Holdem so if you know how to play Texas Holdem you will catch on to Omaha Hi-Lo quickly. If not, the rules of Omaha Hi-Lo poker are still very easy to learn.

A game of Omaha Hi-Lo begins with poker betting. Each player making a blind bet, or ante, to create the prize pot. Then each player is given four private cards that may not be viewed by the other players. Based on these cards there is another round of poker betting in which players choose to call, raise or flop.

In the next three rounds, separated by more poker betting, a total of five community cards are placed face up in the center of the table. All of the players share these cards. The Omaha Hi-Lo poker player who can make the best five-card hand using two private cards and three community cards wins.

However, the player with the highest hand isn’t the only winner in the game of Omaha Hi-Lo poker! In this game the pot is split between the player with the highest hand and the lowest qualifying hand. The lowest qualifying hand must be created by cards that are not higher than 8.
