Tools for removing Backgammon cork

When a Backgammon player decides to start removing the Backgammon cork from their worn Backgammon board there are some things they need to know before they get started. One of the first items that a player should think about before getting started is that of the proper tool selection. Without the proper tools the player runs the likelihood of botching the job and creating a disaster of what otherwise may be a masterpiece.

Tools for removing Backgammon cork can be a very sharp knife (a razor blade type knife is a good option), a scraper to remove the old cork, sand paper to remove the last remnants of glue once the old cork has been removed, glue to affix the new cork, and maybe some touch up paint if there are any mishaps from hitting the sides of the board. Some masking tape along the edges can help protect the surface of the board. Just take care to not leave any residue from the tape on the Backgammon board. The sticky side of the tape is a very strong adhesive and can leave a beautiful board looking very gummy for years and years.

With just a few simple tools a Backgammon player can easily complete the job of removing Backgammon cork from their used board. With just a little know-how, a player can literally take years off of the life of a used board, transforming it into a beautiful new board in just a few simple steps by removing Backgammon cork that takes merely a matter of minutes.
